Joshua Michael

It's been a 20+ year ride for Joshua Michael in the country music industry. Today he continues to pursue his career and dreams in Austin, TX where he works as a session bassist and hired "side-man" to local artists when not promoting and recording his own material. His 2014 project is a series of singles being released as they are finished, with each song being recorded with help from some of the greatest session players and musicians from across the country.

Joshua's journey began back in the mid-90's in the suburbs outside Minneapolis/St. Paul where he cut his teeth around town for years as a singer, bassist and the occasional guitarist. In 1999 he took a leap of faith, sold all he had and hit the road with a band based out of Vegas. After a year and a half he settled in Princeton, MN. 

It wasn't long before Joshua began working the local music scene again throughout the Twin Cities. From 2001 to 2008 he worked with groups including: Rough Rider, Neon Cactus, The Ramblin' Outlaws, The Twang and others. In early 2008 he was hired by Nashville singer/songwriter Shane Wyatt as bassist for his Midwest touring band. In late 2008 Joshua and a few musicians from the Twin Cities came together to form The Hillbilly Mafia band which quickly became a powerhouse on the country music scene throughout the Midwest. The Hillbilly Mafia toured across the Midwest for years opening for major acts, playing major festivals and honky tonks. Since leaving The Mafia in 2011 Joshua has made a few bold moves and has continued to chase the dream living in Jackson, MS and Grand Island, NE prior to making the move to Austin, TX.

Over the years there have been so many great highlights in his career and Joshua is looking forward to the next 20 years as he continues to define his music. This year you will see him continue to focus on his career with even more emphasis on his songs.
